________________
Noticeably inspired by the Japanese pictorial maxim of the three wise monkeys, this piece ( “ the pursuit of wisdom “) explores the power of discernment, and flexing the ability to flow with the energy, towards that which fits, and not towards more resistance.
I have understood there is an internal wisdom that is guiding me, and much like diet, we are who we surround ourselves with; I will be what I hear, what I see and what I speak - I will choose to make kinder and braver choices in what I choose to say, what I choose to see, and what I choose to listen to, absorb and internalise.
The process behind this piece felt urgent, and therefore linked well with the use of charcoal as the material - something immediate yet delicate happens with this medium.
It is necessary to be cautious of the long term impacts of exposure to a negative bias and mindset; as the saying goes, “You cannot control who is around you, but you can control who is around you”.
